10 Years of nothing
Having a discussion at work and we are trying to name 3 things that Sullivan & Gold & Brady have done for the club over the last 10 years where it’s made a difference or made the club better.

To be honest I can’t name one.

All right, all right. But apart from better sanitation and medicine, education, irrigation, public health, roads, a freshwater system, baths and public order - what have our owners ever done for us?

Re: 10 Years of nothing
Levy and Spurs played a blinder using the OS as leverage to get permission to build their new ground without years of red tape and restrictions.

It won't work as a football ground and never will which is why they recommended demolishing it.

If Seb Coe and his chums hadn't been so pig headed then all of this could have been avoided by building some temporary stands on 2 or 3 sides covered by a roof.

Long-term, Athletics is about as economically viable as the bonds on the books of a boiler room enterprise.

Look at every stadium that has ever been built for it - Crystal Palace, Don Valley, Gateshead, Edinburgh - always ends up run down and looking like shit.

They weren't the only people who would have stepped in to stop us going into administration and they didn't even clear the debts did they, they just loaned the wedge and collected interest on it.

Indeed it was a 3 way fight between them, Tony Fernandes who went to QPR and that Italian lunatic that bought Leeds

Re: 10 Years of nothing
When GSB took over they had a 10 point plan:

1. Appoint the right manager
2. Sign new players
3. Investment in Academy
4. Continue to clear debt
5. Freeze season ticket prices for renewals
6. Build the status and image of the club
7. Make it enjoyable to come and watch
8. Get closer to the community
9. Go for the Olympic Stadium
10. Listen to supporters

It does not look like, to me, they have taken each of these individual points and drawn up a short, medium and long-term plan of what they want to achieve and how they are going to do it. The exception is probably the stadium, which they probably invested all their resources and hoped that everything else would just fall into place.

Some of those points are so incredibly vague that I bet they did absolutely fuck all and just decided to play it by ear.

For instance, I would be very surprised if they made any effort or actually put in place any kind of plan to "Listen to the supporters" and "Build the status and image of the club". Clearly if they did then they have failed catastrophically.

For each of those points, anyone with any nouse, would have drawn up a clear and detailed plan as to what they are planning to do to achieve it.

"Sign new players" is on the list for fucks sake, that's part of the job isn't it? It's like the tea lady writing a 10 point pledge starting with "make tea".

For some balance, credit must be given where it is due.

The dildo hawkers somehow managed to convince a huge proportion of the fan base with impossibly empty promises and magically stole and sold the ground from under the fans feet, without once breaking character and bursting into fits of laughter at the gullible fans passive acceptance of its death.

Would we have been worse off if we had gone in to administration 10 years ago?

Leicester have been in administration since then and have rebuilt and won the league.

Re: 10 Years of nothing
I cannot think of anything that has improved us in the last 10 years

I can however think of plenty that is in a worse state since they arrived: ground, badge, cash cow, dividing support, lies etc.

1 average season under Billic, 9 seasons of scraping by with minimal investment, ageing injury prone players, arrogance, no scouting, no plan, signing over the hill players, employing shit managers and generally taking us for a ride with the hope we just stay up so they can 'rinse and repeat'

lets face it, these clowns have turned us into an even bigger laughing stock than we was under Brown

As for the window they got the yes man back in Moyes along with Randolph and as for further investment we will get: We tried, didn't sleep, working around the clock and all of the usual garbage

Truly disgraceful

Yes

We are still suffering from Terry Brown and his botched two bob refurbishment of The Boleyn.

There was enough space on that site to rebuild that entire stadium properly with a well thought out plan.

The big mistake was rebuilding the primary school when a bigger and better one could have been built in a number of locations in the near vicinity. Next to the school was that industrial estate/office building which could also have been snapped up relatively cheaply at the time.

Of course all of this doesn't excuse what GSB have done but the genesis of it all was Brown and his botched stewardship which he gets rewarded for with a life presidency!

Re: 10 Years of nothing
Introduced popcorn and slush puppies called us customers rather than fans, brought in 30.000 part time extras & tourists who wouldn’t know a Julian dicks or Tony Gale if they sat next to them and generally ripped the heart and soul out of the club, on the field it’s all about mediocrity and off of it milking the “customers” for every penny-they can get.absolutely shameful way to treat the most loyal set of fans. The move to the London Stadium has all but finished us a club and destroyed hundreds of years of tradition which is irreversible our home now is a vacuous soulless bowl that we don’t even own or have control over.

Re: 10 Years of nothing
Our training ground facilities are basically still a collection of bolted together portacabins which have been clad with wood panelling to look presentable...

You'd think a smart purpose built building from a distinctive architect with all the bells and whistles would be the way forward but no like you say these guys are 25 years behind the times and they like it that way.

Re: 10 Years of nothing
These need investing in, which they don't do.
They like buying players like on the shelf products, just like their dirty mags.
They have absolutely no vision that investment of this kind can actually bring a return to the club. They can't see the value.
They see facilities as non profit making.

Re: 10 Years of nothing
Our training ground is a joke
Our scoutiing network and player database is a joke

We are part of the Big Four in London...compare our infrastructure with Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs and it's two bob

Even Brentford and Fulham have plans for a better training ground complex than us.

Fucking Shameful

"Once they can buy the Freehold of the ground, then they can sell up. Nobody will be interested to buy us with a lease stadium..."

Yep, and in the meantime they are stuck with the club and the club, the fans are stuck with them.
I'm sure their 'disappointment' of not being able to sell currently is more than offset by the healthy income they receive through various streams unloading money from fans.

There's been various mentions of hurting that income, not going, not buying anything, relegation etc, but the hope is that buying the freehold opportunity happens soon and they move on from there.
They only brought the club for the attachment to the OS and not for the best interests of West Ham United Football club, only to line their pockets further.
When they sell they will consider the job done, not by being in the Champions league.

Could be whoever they sell to is a huge gamble also (remember Birmingham and chinese chicken farmers or something), but I am sure most are willing to take that risk whoever it is.

Re: 10 Years of nothing
Even if they did step in at a time we needed them to, you cannot "dine out in that" for 10 years !!

They made pledges to convince us to move. They need to get nearer to delivering on them or get held to account which is what is beginning to happen.

European football and champions league? Nah I think a majority of fans knew that was a stretch but they did at least expect a team that was not continually struggling to stay in the league and a club that had a progressive plan, invested in the long term etc.

Re: 10 Years of nothing
I firmly believe, what with the loyal fanbase and the TV money, the debt was manageable. The idea that we needed the Daves and we needed to move is a well peddled myth.

Re: 10 Years of nothing
Understand what u are saying and it will be hard to make them accountable but their love of the media limelight tells me they want to be appreciated and their actions this week we’re very defensive. Fan unrest seems to get to them. They need to invest more into the underlying infrastructure and realise it takes more than one season of a higher spend to build a squad. The protest will help I suspect but it’s sad it takes that to get them to act.

You rightly said the 10 point pledge was something they should have not signed up to but they did and they are actually being. Ade accountable.

I doff my cap to Hammers United using facts and truth as a stick to get at them with
